Dr.
Zahid H. Bukhari, PhD. Director, American
Muslim Studies Program (AMSP), Georgetown University,
Washington DC visited Pakistan on special invitation
by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. He gave
lectures in different Universities on the role of
Muslims in the West. He also visited TMF Head Office,
met with Chairman TMF and took a tour of Tameer-e-Millat
City of Education. While interacting with TMF creative
team, Dr. Bukhari shared his views about increasing
contribution of Pakistani Muslims in the Social
fabric of the West. He talked about his initiative
of establishing an American Muslim Studies Center
at Georgetown University that would conduct focused
studies and research to identify the role and scope
of Muslims in the Western world, especially the
potential and input of Pakistani Muslims.
He
mentioned that every 6th Muslim
in United States is a Pakistani, a vast majority
of whom are competent professionals. He also pointed
out that despite the current geo-political changes
in the world and negative projection of Islam by
foreign media, a strong progressive Muslim culture
is fast evolving. Muslims are more confident and
aware of their contribution in the West than ever
before and it would not be possible to alienate
them from the society.
While
talking about his visit to Tameer-e-Millat City
of Education, Dr. Bukhari expressed great satisfaction
to see such well-planned and disciplined efforts
being made to promote education in the country.
He prayed for the continuity and success of TMF’s
educational projects.
